Swimsuits for Outfits
Yep, you read the title correctly…swimsuits worn as regular outfits! It’s very possible and easy to do this as long as you find something that goes very well with the swimsuit top or one-piece. There are so many brands and magazines showcasing swimsuit pieces in everyday outfits! So, I decided to round up some swimsuit one-pieces and tops and see where it went! I really love the outfits I put together with the swimsuits–each one has such a unique identity and feel to it. I hope you love the four looks as much as I do (see all below) and feel inspired to create your own swimsuit outfits! Who said swimsuits were just meant for swimming? (:
Moschino is very playful, creative and cute. Under Jeremy Scott, the brand’s creative director, he’s designed runway themes inspired by Barbie, SpongeBob, and McDonald’s. He’s all about making a statement with big letters, bright colors and oversized anything. To match Scott’s kind of thinking, I chose a Moschino belt (any belt with lettering on it will work), oversized Bermuda shorts, a bright pastel swimsuit top, and a cute little Moschino bag. Any shoes that make a statement or are big or bright will definitely work. Just make sure the shoes and the top match! This way, the outfit has a completed feel and some unity from head to toe. A fun swimsuit top, a belt that spells something out, cool shoes, and anything else will create the perfect whimsical/Moschino-inspired look.
Cute & Preppy
This outfit gave me a smart and playful feeling. The colors and patterns (plaid!) work really well together and give off a serious girl vibe. The swimsuit top, shoes, jewelry, and especially the hair (Ariana Grande inspired) are what make the outfit not completely ready for school and more of a playful look. Take any plaid item, preferably the bottoms (either shorts or a short skirt), and combine it with a cute swimsuit top. Try heels on to give some height and make your legs look super long! A choker necklace would also go perfectly if your top exposes enough of your collarbone. Preppy girls usually wear pearls, so for my choker, I decided to go with that. I personally think a color combination of black, white and gray with hints of either red, gold or beige will create the perfect cute and playful look, but it’s up to you! And bonus points for a fun hairstyle!
This look would probably be worn at a country or beach club, summer party, or out to dinner in a beautiful outdoor location. Whatever it is, somewhere outside comes to mind. The green one-piece and tannish Sarto boots give the look such a nice, earthy feel–the outfit has elements of the earth and nature. Remember to add colors and accessories that really compliment. The Givenchy necklace and Fendi bag add unique patterns and, in my opinion, make the outfit more interesting to look at. The skirt definitely adds something because of its shape and style! This outfit works very well with a sophisticated one-piece that acts as a bodysuit and gives some definition to the whole set. Halter tops are just so cute and would look great with a serious yet fun and bold outfit like this one!
The After Party
I feel like this one would work well at some type of party or sporting event (maybe a really fancy one?). The ‘Pink 86’ could really pull off as a top (Love Pink), from the design to the cut. Any cropped top like this would pair nicely with a skirt (this one is Helmut Lang) that is high up enough to cover the belly button, just exposing a little more than a finger length of your stomach. Shoes with an interesting design and a wallet (this one is Balenciaga – it can be used as a small clutch due to its size) or small purse with cool details nicely compliment the entirety of the look and give it a finishing touch. This outfit is playful and bold and also gives me a boss girl feel as well.*
